SolarGrid Energy Inc’s R&D team is actively conducting innovative research and technology developments in the areas of thin films and nanotechnologies based photovoltaic solar cells. SolarGrid Energy Inc. focuses on the development of cost effective highly efficient next generation solar cells.
SolarGrid Energy, working closely with local universities, is involved with forwarding looking fundamental and applied research to develop CsTe and CuInSe2 based semiconductor and nanostructured materials and devices for photovoltaic applications. We are also developing quantum dots sensitized solar cells for their cost effectiveness and efficiency.
Some of our research endeavours have been funded by National Research Council Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC – IRAP). One of our current research projects is the designing and developing of the next generation smart solar powered street lights. These lights are designed with a two-way communication system to provide higher performance efficiency and end user control.
Our goal is to have our smart street light technology technology become the most efficient and cost effective means of lighting the streets, parks, parking lots and other similar area for improved safety, visibility and security.
The SolarGrid Energy Inc. team has a rich history of innovation, research and development. It owns industrial designs and patents including the Sharp Metal Tip Generation Process for Scanning Tunneling Microscopy applications and the Grain Bound Engineering Process (US Patent #5,651,839).
